Dear Plattsburgh State Alumni:

It is my pleasure as president of the Plattsburgh Alumni Association to say how excited we are to have our latest alumni directory available to you. One of Plattsburgh States greatest assets is our alumni, and the opportunity to network with more than 42,000 alumni is a wonderful resource for our college, alumni, and students.

Since the Plattsburgh State Normal School was founded in 1889, growth and change have been two of the most important commitments your college has made to our students and our alumni. As society has changed so has your alma mater. However, the warm and caring spirit—affectionately known as the Plattsburgh Spirit—continues to thrive in 2004 as we celebrate our 115th anniversary. If you havent been back to campus to celebrate Homecoming, please plan to attend your next anniversary reunion—I promise you will not be disappointed. You will have the opportunity to meet our students, faculty, staff, and to reconnect with former classmates. It is a wonderful experience.

Our alumni do make a difference! From writing congratulatory notes to accepted students to hosting events for alumni and friends, our alumni are on the move making a difference. There are many ways to give back to Plattsburgh and your participation is appreciated—whether it is through a contribution for scholarships or in providing opportunities to assist our students in preparing for a rewarding career. You play an important role by providing internships and work cooperatives.

Growth is constant. We look for new ways to provide services to our alumni and our students. We have an Alumni Banner Web Connections, which you will find off our home page www.plattsburgh.edu/alumni, a permanent e-mail forwarding address, which allows you to change Internet providers without losing touch with your friends and former classmates. We are always looking for new services.

One of my most pleasant experiences as president is getting to know alumni of all ages. Whether it is via e-mail or during Homecoming Weekend held each fall, I look forward to sharing memories of Plattsburgh and to working with you for a brighter and stronger college.

Please keep in touch and thank you for keeping Plattsburgh State close in thought and spirit!

Sincerely,

Douglas Sloan 91
